Pairdriver Contributes to Enhanced Safety in Toyota's New RAV4

JTEKT Corporation (Head Office: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture; President: Yoshito Kondo; hereinafter referred to as "JTEKT") announces that its Pairdriver technology has been installed for the first time in a mass-produced vehicle as a steering control function in the new RAV4, which Toyota Motor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Toyota") positions as the first step toward the widespread adoption of Software Defined Vehicles (hereinafter referred to as "SDVs").

Pairdriver is a cooperative steering technology that naturally connects the actions of human drivers with automated driving systems. Through highly precise steering angle control, it achieves excellent trajectory tracking and smooth steering intervention. Regardless of differences in steering mechanisms across vehicles, stable control is consistently maintained. Steering feedback can also be flexibly designed and adjusted through software, enabling "intuitive communication between humans and systems." This provides a new driving assistance experience and delivers an unprecedentedly safe and secure driving environment.In this implementation, Pairdriver is activated only during emergency avoidance maneuvers, thereby contributing to improved driving safety.
