Acquired Science Based Targets (SBT) Certification by JTEKT Group

JTEKT Corporation (Head office: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, Yoshihito Kondo, President: hereinafter "JTEKT") has received certification from SBT (Science Based Targets)*1, an international initiative, for its Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emission reduction targets set by the JTEKT Group. As a result, these targets are recognized as science-based targets in the Paris Agreement's greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

Initiatives for "Climate Change"

To prevent global warming and mitigate the various impacts of climate change, JTEKT aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035 for the entire group.
In addition to daily energy-saving activities, we have promoted the use of renewable energy in the manufacturing process, such as the introduction of solar power generation equipment, visualization of power consumption, and production technology innovation, resulting in a 35.6% reduction of CO₂ emissions in FY2022 compared with FY 2013.
Besides reducing our own CO₂ emissions, we are also striving to become carbon neutral from the perspective of the lifecycle CO₂(CO₂ emissions from all processes, from manufacturing to transportation, sales, and disposal) of our products.

Regarding the future

JTEKT is working to address climate change as one of its most important issues, and has formulated the "Environmental Action Plan for 2025," which sets more specific targets to achieve the "Environmental Challenge 2050," a guideline for initiatives to minimize environmental impacts. For achieving carbon neutrality throughout the JTEKT Group by 2035, we will share this plan with the entire group and promote the development of new technologies, the improvement of production processes, and the introduction of renewable energy, not only on-site but also off-site, including virtual PPA * 2. Moreover, through our global environmental conservation activities, we are working to realize a sustainable society and promote initiatives for coexistence with nature and biodiversity. We will make company-wide efforts to educate environmental human resources, promote solutions to all environmental issues, develop human resources who can contribute to the earth and the world, and create new value.

Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (a transaction of only environmental value from a renewable energy power plant built outside the customer's premises that does not involve electricity according to the amount of power generated. )
