Achieved the highest rating of A in the climate change category of CDP 2025
JTEKT Corporation (headquartered in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture; President: Yoshihito Kondo; hereinafter "JTEKT") has been highly recognized for its efforts to address climate change. In the CDP survey conducted by the international environmental nonprofit organization CDP, JTEKT was awarded the highest rating of A out of eight levels in the "Climate Change" category, achieving a leadership-level evaluation. Additionally, in the "Water" category, JTEKT received the second-highest rating of A-.
The JTEKT Group has formulated the "Environmental Challenge 2050" and, under the slogan "All for One Earth," continues to take on challenges to protect our irreplaceable planet for future generations. To achieve carbon neutrality, the group is working to reduce CO2 emissions across all scopes: Scope 1, 2, and 3. Specifically, it aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its own production activities, corresponding to Scope 1 and 2, by the year 2035.
Furthermore, JTEKT has been advancing the installation of solar power systems at its various business sites. In June 2024, it started the operation and demonstration of the "CN Lab," which produces hydrogen using electricity generated by solar power. By December 2025, JTEKT introduced hydrogen production equipment based on the same system as the CN Lab, as well as a hydrogen burner-type aluminum melting holding furnace fueled by hydrogen, into its automobile parts manufacturing line. Additionally, the company is focusing on the circular economy by maximizing the value of resources and products, minimizing resource consumption, and reducing waste generation, thereby striving to improve the sustainability of its business activities.

Initiatives for Climate Change
At JTEKT, to prevent global warming and reduce various impacts caused by climate change, the entire group aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035. Efforts include daily energy-saving activities, the use of renewable energy in manufacturing processes such as the introduction of solar power systems, visualization of power consumption, and innovation in production technology. In fiscal year 2024, JTEKT reduced CO2 emissions by 36.3% compared to fiscal year 2013, achieving its fiscal year 2025 target one year ahead of schedule. Moreover, JTEKT aims for carbon neutrality not only by reducing its own CO2 emissions but also by considering the life cycle CO2 emissions of its products, which cover all stages from manufacturing, transportation, and sales to disposal.
In July 2024, the greenhouse gas emission reduction targets set by the JTEKT Group received SBT (Science Based Targets) certification, which contributed to achieving the highest CDP rating of A.
*Note: SBT refers to greenhouse gas emission reduction targets certified for companies that are aligned with the levels required by the Paris Agreement.

Forecast
JTEKT regards addressing climate change as one of its key challenges. To achieve the goals of its environmental initiative guideline "Environmental Challenge 2050," the company has developed the "2030 Environmental Action Plan," which sets targets based on three pillars - "Carbon Neutrality," "Circular Economy," and "Nature Positive" - with "Environmental Management" as the foundation for these actions, reflecting societal trends. To realize carbon neutrality across the entire JTEKT Group by 2035, this plan is shared throughout the group. JTEKT will promote the development of new technologies and improvements in production processes, and advance the introduction of renewable energy both onsite and offsite, including virtual Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Additionally, the company aims to establish a local production and consumption model for green hydrogen to further accelerate CO2 emissions reductions in Scope 1 and 2.
*Note: A virtual PPA (Virtual Power Purchase Agreement) is a contract for environmental attributes. This refers to transactions involving only the environmental value from renewable energy power plants located outside the premises of electricity users.
