Abstract Preventive safety technology is very important to avoiding traffi c accidents. Robotic technology, using sensors, actuators and microcomputers, is quite similar to preventive safety technology used to achieve drive assistance systems and autonomous stopping systems. Recently in JSAE, a new committee on Car Robotics started to investigate the new technology.
