Abstract This paper describes weight reducing technology for automotive parts in order to reduce CO2 and improve fuel consumption of automobiles in response to environment problems. It also explains the importance of basic technologies (material development, measurement and simulation analysis, efficiency technology, and manufacturing technology) and the need for future research, using examples of developed technologies, both directly and indirectly related the weight reduction.
