| Abstract | Three new guideways were developed for use in machine tools: −Dynamically pressurized guideway −Statically pressurized guideway −Partially fl oated guideway The dynamically pressurized guideway utilizes a newly developed program for analysis. This guideway has a split design which gradually narrows around the center section. This keeps the guideway from fl oating and tilting and also limits the amount of friction generated. The statically pressurized guideway has been designed for robustness and versatility. Large machines can be easily equipped with this guideway through the combination of various styles of special "pockets" which eliminates scraping. Finally, our partially fl oated guideway is used in our original oil-lift style machinery. This guideway features the technology found in the statically pressurized guideway which leads to low friction, high accuracy feeds. |
