Abstract Autonomous driving has seen significant progress in recent years, and demand for such systems is expected to increase. This report explains developments in J-EPICS, a technology that combines compatibility with automated driving with the comfort of manual driving. This system must continue operating even if a failure occurs while driving. The system may stop if a vehicle power failure occurs, so it was necessary to supply power to enable safe evacuation. To achieve this, a BPS using high heat-resistance Lithium-ion capacitor (Libuddy) exclusively for J-EPICS was developed.
