Abstract We examined the tribological behavior of fiber-reinforced PA66 and steel under grease lubrication. This allowed us to clarify the wear mechanism of glass fiber-reinforced PA66 and steel, and through clarification of the tribochemical reaction at the sliding interface, we could explain the temperature dependence of wear resistance. This also allowed us to determine the effects of glass fiber-reinforced PA66 composition including PA66 molecular mass and reinforcement fiber types. We can then apply these findings to future high-performance polymer gears.
