Abstract One application for high-precision cylindrical rollers is linear guides, which are used in a variety of fields, including machine tools, assembly machines, and robots, to transport and position products and processed parts. In contrast to linear guides that use balls as the rolling elements, linear guides, which have a structure in which cylindrical rollers are arranged alternately at right angles, can withstand loads from all directions and achieve high rigidity. However, the precision of the cylindrical rollers affects the motion precision and quietness of the linear guide, so high-precision machining is required. This report introduces the features of JFT's high-precision cylindrical rollers.
