Abstract In driver assistance systems that are currently under development, humans and machines drive together in what is called shared control. When designing these systems, it is important to consider the interface between human and machine. This paper introduces the results of research on steering assistance using haptic interfaces and shows their effectiveness. Based on the results, the ideal interface design and the direction of future development are described.
