Abstract In the manufacturing industry, process engineers play a crucial role in solving on-site challenges and improving efficiency and quality. As digital and production technologies are gradually integrated, considerable progress is being made toward digital manufacturing, which utilizes IoT, AI, and digital twins. Digital manufacturing can optimize manufacturing processes and improves the quality of products. Japan's manufacturing sector is facing the "2025 cliff," so it is essential to promote digital transformation (DX). In response to a declining workforce and a shortage of IT talent, automation technology and robotics are now being introduced in many factories. JTEKT is promoting DX through its Digital Festival, which aims to encourage innovation in production technologies. By building smart factory systems, JTEKT has achieved visualization and analysis of equipment operation and traceability data, which enables early detection of issues and rapid responses. Automation of visual inspections using AI has successfully reduced labor while improving inspection accuracy. Simulations of production preparations using our digital twin technology have shortened lead times and enhanced product quality. JTEKT plans to leverage digital technology to strengthen its competitiveness.
