Together with Employees -
Health Management

Social Background

As the social environment continues to change, with rising national healthcare costs and a shrinking working-age population, companies are increasingly looking at employee health management from a managerial perspective and strategically implementing the concept of "health management".
The maintenance and promotion of employee health is a prerequisite for optimizing medical costs, improving productivity, and achieving sustainable corporate growth. Companies are required to take the initiative in making efforts to promote employee health and prevent disease.

JTEKT's Approach

We believe that investing in the health of our employees leads to increased employee engagement and improved performance, which in turn leads to enhanced corporate value through sustainable growth. We promote health management by setting "health" as one of our key themes based on our materiality of "building an organization and people that are trusted by society and can contribute to it.
Based on the "Health Declaration," we aim to be a company where each and every employee can work vigorously by proactively implementing initiatives for the health of our employees.

Health Declaration

The JTEKT Group believes that the health of all employees and their families, both physically and mentally, is of the utmost importance. We will support the health of our employees and their families with compassion and sincerity, and engage in health promotion activities on an employee-first basis.
We declare that we will implement disease prevention initiatives to prevent employees and their families from getting sick, and work to create a workplace where everyone can practice health first, where everyone feels that the workplace is getting better and better.

Health Management Promotion System

Under the leadership of JTEKT President and Representative Director, our executive team plays a central role in promoting health management. Together with the Human Resources Department and HR function of each workplace, the JTEKT Labor Union, and the Health Insurance Association, we have established the "Health Management Promotion System" and are working collaboratively to advance health-focused initiatives. In addition, the "Company-wide Health and Safety Committee," chaired by the president, reports on the plans and results of health management measures, and after receiving approval, implements them at each workplace and among employees.

Evaluation Indicators (KPI) for Health Management Promotion

We consider "increasing employee engagement and improving performance" to be a management issue, and while implementing various health measures, we evaluate them comprehensively from two perspectives: "result indicators" and "action indicators".
(Health KPI) In particular, we believe that the "action indicators" will contribute to raising health awareness by providing indicators that can be improved through the actions of each and every employee. To enable employees to work healthily and vigorously, we are working to promote employee health by implementing a PDCA cycle to achieve our goals.

We use the results of the Health and Productivity Management Survey as an indicator to measure the effectiveness of our health management initiatives. This survey, conducted annually by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, assesses the status of corporate health management efforts, and we believe it provides an objective evaluation of our company's approach to health management.
With the goal of ranking within the top 500 in this survey by FY2025 and obtaining certification as a "Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization - White 500," we actively pursued various initiatives. As a result, we successfully received the "White 500" certification for 2025.

Data Health Plan

As a joint project with the JTEKT Health Insurance Association, we are promoting "prevention and health management" by analyzing medical and health checkup data to identify issues that need to be addressed. We also use health reports that calculate lifestyle charts and healthy age at each business unit to identify health risks and recommend medical checkups to those who are found to be at risk of health problems.

Health Support Point System

We have introduced the "Health Support Point System" in cooperation with the JTEKT Health Insurance Association with the aim of supporting lifestyle improvement and ongoing health promotion.
As of the end of FY2024, 47.4% of employees participated in this system, in which points awarded according to the results of medical examinations, the number of steps taken per day, and the status of achievement of healthy behaviors can be exchanged for various prizes. The program is being used to establish healthy habits and raise health awareness.

Establishment of Massage Rooms

For the purpose of improving employee productivity and relaxation, massage rooms have been installed at some business sites since March 2024. Health keepers (in-house physiotherapists) provide treatment tailored to the physical condition of employees, and 99.2% of employees responded "satisfied" in a post-treatment questionnaire.

Response to Infectious Diseases

In preparation for the outbreak or spread of infectious diseases within the company, we stockpile infection-control supplies, conduct educational activities, and establish a system in the event of an outbreak of infected employees. To protect the health of our employees and their families, we will continue to share information with our group companies and business partners, while taking measures against various infectious diseases.

About Healthy People Assessment

With the aim of encouraging employees themselves to actively think and act to maintain and improve their health, we conduct an annual "Healthy Human Evaluation" and provide feedback on the results to individuals and workplaces.
In FY2024, we identified the promotion of regular physical activity as a key area for improvement and implemented initiatives such as walking campaigns to encourage healthier lifestyles among employees. Moving forward, we will continue to enhance the implementation of health-related practices by actively sharing information and collaborating with group companies and business partners.
