Abstract In response to environmental issues such as global warming, requirements for energy conservation continue to become more stringent. Expectations for lower friction torque in bearings used in automobiles are also increasing. This paper describes efforts to develop 5th generation low friction torque bearings that are more compact and lower torque than LFT-IV by optimizing the cage shape.
